Question tag is very common in spoken English. It is grammatical structure, in other terms, it is one among interrogatives. It turns a statement: whether it is affirmative or negative, into a question sentence. It is an interrogative fragment which changes the declaratives or any imperative, into yes /no question. The tense of the question tag is to be determined by the tense of the verb (aux.verb/modal aux verb/main verb) of the statement.
