Ans.: The story teller said that the Americans are bueana gentla- in Spanish language it means good people because the old man knows spanisha well and  they did not want to cheat Don Anselmo and they were willing to pay Don Anselmo twice the money for his land for the extra discovered land.

12. Why do you think Don Anselmo did not sell the trees in the Orchard?

Ans.: I think Don Anselmo did not sell the trees in the Orchard because he planted a tree for every born child and so the trees in the Orchard belongs to the children of Rio-en-Medio. Hence Don Anselmo could sell only the Orchard but not the trees in the Orchard.

13. How do you say that Don Anselmo was generous?

Ans.: I say that Don Anselmo was generous because he was a man of principles he refused to take the extra money offered by the Americans for his land and his simplicity in his life,and his selflessness. Totally he was a man of virtues.

14. What did the story teller’s friends complain?

Ans.: The story teller’s friends-Americans who purchased the land, complained that the children of Reo en Medio, came to the purchased property every day, played under the trees and took blossoms from them.

15. What were the changes made on the ranch after it was sold?

Ans.: The changes made by The Americans on the ranch after it was sold were that they replastered the old house, pruned the trees and patched the fence.

Ans.: Don Anselmo did as he left the place with money that he shook hands all around, put on his ragged gloves, took his cane and walked out with the boy behind him.

Ans.: The story teller requested Don Anselmo because the children of the village over ran the orchard every day. So, he requested Anselmo to stop the children from doing this and let the Americans could live in peace in accordance with the deed that the Americans had complete possession of the property.

Ans.: The Story-teller was unable to convince the old man because the old man insisted that he had sold the property and not the trees which belonged to the children because they planted while they were born. So, he had not taken double the price fixed for the land.

Don Anselmo’s or the story teller’s? Give reasons.

 Ans.: I agree with the both: Don Anselmo’s stuck to his principles as a man of virtues that he had sold only the land and not the trees which belong to the children of the village. I too agree that the Americans had the signed deed of the old man which allowed them to enjoy even the trees of the land.
