Sutradaara<\/span><\/strong>:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hi ,Hello, Good morning
\n,friends, teachers and all. Friends ,<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

I know my duty. Let me say myself. I\u2019m Sutradaara ,
\na character of this play.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0The name of the play is The SWAN AND THE
\nPRINCES.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

It Is A Story Of Siddartha Of Kapilavastu And His
\nCousin Deva Datta<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

My dears,\u00a0\u00a0 we all of us know\u00a0 the
\nstory.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

it is the story of a\u00a0 quarrel between the
\nprinces of Kapilavastu<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

My dear teachers\u00a0 I don\u2019t test your patience.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

O k.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Now characters of the play are ready to come on the
\nstage .<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\nSutradaara exit\u00a0 left side of the stage and the main characters of the
\nplay enters from\u00a0 the right side of the stage. And\u00a0 introduce
\nthemselves)<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

[King Suddodhana is sitting on his throne. His
\nMinisters are sitting<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

around him. The Chief Minister is saying something
\nto him. Just then<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

the guard enters and bows to the King.]<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Guards:<\/span><\/strong> Long Live the King!…
\nLong Live the King!…..<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Sir, Prince Dev Datt wants to come in.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

King:<\/span><\/strong> Bring him in.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

[The guard bows and goes out]<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Chief Minister:<\/span><\/strong> I wonder\u2026.! why Prince Dev
\nDatt…. wants to see \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Second Minister:<\/span><\/strong> Perhaps he wants to

Dev Datt:<\/span><\/strong> Yes, sir, he has. I shot
\nit and it fell on the ground.. near<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\nthe Prince. He picked it up and said.. he wouldn\u2019t give it<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

King: That\u2019s very naughty of Siddhartha. Guard..
\ncome here. Go and call<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Third Minister:<\/span><\/strong> [softly to the Fourth
\nMinister] The Prince is a good lad.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

He can\u2019t do a thing.. that\u2019s wrong.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Fourth Minister:<\/span><\/strong> I agree with you..my
\nfriend . I agree with you.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

[The guard enters with Prince Siddhartha, who has a
\nwhite swan in<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

his arms. Siddhartha bows to the King]<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

King:<\/span><\/strong> Siddhartha\u2026.., Dev Datt
\nsays that.. you\u2019ve taken his swan.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n


\nIs that\u00a0 the swan.., which you took from him?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Siddhartha:<\/span><\/strong> Your Highness.., Dev Datt
\nhas complained about this swan, but \u00a0it is not his swan\u2026 It\u2019s mine.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Dev Datt:<\/span><\/strong> No, Your Highness, it is
\nnot his. It is mine. I shot it with\u00a0 an arrow. Siddhartha is telling a
\nlie. I want justice\u2026I want justice..your honour..<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

King:<\/span><\/strong> Be calm.., Be calm Dev
\nDatt, Be calm. You say that the swan is yours, because,\u00a0 you shot it. Is
\nthat right?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Dev Datt:<\/span><\/strong> Yes, sir, that\u2019s quite
\nright.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

King: \u00a0What do you say, Siddhartha?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Why do you say ? \u00a0That the swan is yours..?!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Siddhartha:<\/span><\/strong> Your Majesty, Dev Datt
\nshot this swan,<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Prince Dev Datt says that the swan is his,<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

because he had shot it, am I right ? then<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Prince Siddhartha says that it is his,<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Siddhartha and Dev Datt:<\/span><\/strong> Yes, you\u2019re right.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Chief Minister:<\/span><\/strong> Good. Now, Prince
\nSiddhartha\u2026,<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n


\nplease put the swan on this stool.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

[Siddhartha puts the swan on the stool and goes back
\nto his<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\nthe\u00a0 swan to come to you.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Dev Datt:<\/span><\/strong> [coming forward] Come to
\nme, O swan, Come! Come!Come!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

[The swan trembles and cries with fear]<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Chief Minister:, Prince Dev Datt. Your\u00a0 turn is
\nover. Now it\u2019s Prince Siddhartha\u2019s turn to call the swan, \u00a0Prince
\nSiddhartha.. \u00a0please come forward and ask the swan to come to you.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

[Dev Datt goes back and Siddhartha comes forward]<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Siddhartha:<\/span><\/strong> [going near the swan] My
\nDear swan, don\u2019t be afraid. I\u2019ve<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 come to you. Come and sit on my
\narms.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u00a0[The swan at once flies onto Siddhartha\u2019s
\narms]<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Chief Minister:<\/span><\/strong> [to the king] Your
\nHighness, the swan has decided<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

the case.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

King:<\/span><\/strong> It has, indeed; and we
\naccept the decision.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
